52-year-old actress Amy Poehler was born in Newton, Massachusetts on September 16, 1971. She is best known for portraying "Leslie Knope" in the NBC show Parks and Recreation from 2009 to 2015, where she shared credits with other celebrities like Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, and Chris Pratt.
Her role as "Leslie" earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy Series in 2014, as well as a Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series two years before, in 2012. Before her work in Parks & Rec Amy was part of the cast of Saturday Night Live, where she appeared from 2001 to 2008, winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, for co-hosting the show with her close friend and also comedian Tina Fey.
