If there's one thing we all remember from the early 2000s, it's the crazy antics of Paris Hilton. The Hollywood heiress is making it clear, however, that it was all just an act, and that no one really knows who the starlet is.
Detailing accounts of abuse, Hilton is getting real about her childhood trauma ahead of the YouTube release of her documentary, This Is Paris.
Paris Hilton reveals her childhood trauma
Life was not all diamonds and Juicy Couture tracksuits for Paris Hilton growing up, despite the persona she adopted for her reality series The Simple Life, which launched her into superstardom in the early 2000s.
Before we all went around saying "that's hot," Hilton underwent some traumatic years while away at boarding school and adopted a different personality to cope with her pain, which she details in her upcoming documentary This Is Paris.
Opening up to The Sunday Times, Hilton gets candid, and it's a lot to handle. Following the abuse she endured at school, Hilton shares it launched her into many abusive and unhealthy relationships with the men she's dated.
"I accepted it because I almost thought it was normal," she said. "It was like, 'He loves me so much that he’s going this crazy,' and I just wanted love so bad that I was willing to accept being hit or yelled at or screamed at or strangled, or a lot of things."
However, her current relationship with entrepreneur Carter Reum is totally different and talking about him brings her to tears of a different kind — of joy.
"I feel like my grandmother sent him to save me," she says through her tears. "I love him so much."
"Finally, I’ve found my perfect match, someone I want to spend the rest of my life with and have a family with," she added.
Hilton has been engaged two times before but says this time it's totally different.
"I’ve said 'He’s the one' before just because I always wanted to portray 'I’m so happy with the perfect life, the perfect boyfriend,' but I never truly felt that," said said. "I was just acting."
Paris Hilton talks becoming a mom
If there's one thing Paris wants now more than ever, it's to become a mom. Her longtime best friend, Kim Kardashian was the one to encourage Hilton to freeze her eggs.
"I had a really amazing conversation with Kim [Kardashian] about it. She introduced me to her doctor, and I was so inspired by her to actually do it," she said.
"I think every woman should do it because you can really control it and not have that 'Oh my God, I need to get married,'" she added.
Hilton shares that if she got to choose, she hopes for a girl. "I’m obsessed with dressing them up and having a mini-me," she said. Or she hopes for twins, "because then you get both [girl and boy] at once."
