• The legendary dispute between Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
  • They finally reveal the reason behind their feud
  • They've reconciled

Paris Hilton (42) and Nicole Richie (43), once an inseparable duo, fell out in the early 2000s. In a revealing interview on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, the two shared that media manipulation was the main reason behind their feud, even after all these years.

The lifelong friends, who have known each other since they were toddlers, were forced to film the fourth season of their hit show 'The Simple Life' separately.

Hilton and Richie: Media Manipulation as the trigger for their feud

"Back then, the media was just so toxic and they loved starting feuds between people because, obviously, that sold tabloids," Paris Hilton explained in an interview with Alex Cooper. The media portrayal of their falling-out created a false narrative, distorting their actual relationship.

Nicole Richie added that the coverage "blew up to be something that was so big that it became impossible to connect to or have any sort of real feeling around it."

Communication problems exacerbated the situation

In addition to external influences, a lack of communication skills also played a role in the rift. Richie emphasized that, at the time, she and Hilton couldn't effectively communicate, which led to misunderstandings. "We didn't have the communication skills that we have now to have check-ins, which is so important," she explained.

This lack of communication compounded the situation and led them to believe the media's version of events, further straining their friendship.

Reunification and new projects

Despite the dramatic fallout, Hilton and Richie eventually overcame their differences. They reconnected in 2006 when Hilton reached out to Richie for her 25th birthday, and they have remained close friends ever since.

Their renewed friendship will be celebrated in the upcoming show 'The Simple Life: Encore,' which premieres on Peacock on December 12.
