- She has now said goodbye to THIS
Jeff Baena, the director and screenwriter best known for films such as 'Spin Me Round' and 'Life After Beth,' was found lifeless in his Los Angeles home in early January. Baena, who had worked on several projects with his wife, actress Aubrey Plaza (40), was recognized for his focus on mental health in his work—an issue close to his heart due to his personal experiences.
Aubrey Plaza makes a difficult decision
Approximately a week after her husband's tragic death, Aubrey Plaza made a deeply personal decision. She deactivated her Instagram account, and the message on her page now reads: "Sorry, this page is not available." The news of Baena's suicide shocked both Plaza and their family, who have requested privacy during this incredibly difficult time.
The decision to delete her Instagram profile came shortly after Baena’s death on January 3. In a joint statement, Plaza described the loss as an "unimaginable tragedy" and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. "Please respect our privacy during this time," the family added.

Baena and Plaza, who married in secret in 2020, had worked together creatively for over a decade. Their collaboration resulted in several films, including The Little Hours. Although they kept their personal life mostly private, the couple revealed their marriage to the public via Instagram in May 2021.
In a recent interview, Plaza shared that working with Baena, a filmmaker, was more fulfilling to her than working with other actors. We can only wish the young widow strength in the days ahead and hope that she finds the resilience to navigate this incredibly difficult period.
