- Coachella is the biggest music festival in North America
- Kanye West was expected to close each of the festival nights this year
- Kanye has pulled out of his commitment to Coachella for reasons unspecified
Held every spring in California, the Coachella music festival is by and large one of the most important musical events in the entire planet. Major headliners from all over the world make their way to Coachella to debut new songs, or simply bring the house down with classic hits. This year's lineup was set to be an impressive "who's who" of musical giants, with Kanye West having been scheduled to perform in each evening of the festival being held April 15-17...

Kanye West Is Making Controversy Yet Again
However, for the festival's biggest fans, there are sad news out of Coachella yet again, as West has announced he will be cancelling his performances at the festival altogether. No specific reasons were given, but it follows a period of heavy controversy after Kanye's separation from Kim Kardashian.
The last few years have been full of turmoil for Kanye, from being barred from the Grammy awards, to being heavily criticized for his public meltdowns after Kim Kardashian confirmed a new relationship with comedian Pete Davidson.
It’s the second time West has dropped out of North America’s largest music festival at the last minute. He was scheduled to headline Coachella in 2020, but cancelled mere days before the festival started. Organizers ended up postponing that year’s festival to this year, due to the pandemic. But even back then, fans were taken aback by Kanye's decision.
Kanye And The Tabloids Continue Their Relationship
The 44-year-old rap legend was set to headline alongside Billie Eilish and Harry Styles this year. But why cancel? Earlier this year, West threatened to pull out of Coachella if Eillish didn't apologize to rapper Travis Scott, as reported by Teen Vogue.
West reportedly thought that Eilish had "dissed Scott" when she briefly stopped an Atlanta concert to help a fan just a few weeks after 10 fans were killed and hundreds injured in a stampede at Scott’s Astroworld Festival. Could this be the reason? Kanye is certainly known for taking other people's problems personally!
The fact is, Kanye West is bound to speak up about his reasons eventually. But perhaps this is the last straw for many fans...and an online petition has also been circulating, encouraging Coachella’s organizers and other brands working with him, to drop West for good.
Only time will tell if Kanye's decision to disappear from the show will cost him more than just a few bad headlines! In any case, we'll keep you posted on this story as it develops!
