64-year-old Robert Maraj, the father of superstar Nicki Minaj, was taken too soon during a hit and run accident over the weekend. Now the NYPD is asking the public for help.
Nicki Minaj's Father Robert Maraj Killed
Nicki's Trinidadian father Robert Maraj was struck in a hit and run car accident Friday evening. According to The New York Times, he was walking near the intersection of Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue in Mineola, New York when the car slammed into him and fled.
Robert was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Saturday. Nicki has not spoken publicly about the tragedy yet but her representative did confirm Robert's death.
Nicki has been open about her father's issues but has since appeared to have a respectful and loving relationship with him. She told The New York Times that he was abusive to her mother saying, "I would always hear him yelling and cursing, always. And it made me feel it was the way to interact because that's how I saw him interacting."

She told Rolling Stone, that she had hoped "being rich would cure everything." Nicki's success was driven by the hope of rescuing her mother from Robert, "I was disappointed in my father. I was afraid, very afraid, that something would happen to my mother. I had nightmares about it."
Nicki and her father seemingly have repaired their strained relationship. Now his premature death is being investigated. The Nassau Homicide Department is imploring the public to come forward with any information they may have to help find the suspect.
Hopefully, the perpetrator is captured soon.
