The move looks to usher in a new era in Olympic competition. On October 16, the International Olympic Committee Session approved the proposal, with only two Olympic delegates voting against adding the new events. While baseball has featured at the Olympics several times in the past, the LA Games will be the first time in 128 years that cricket will return.
The 2028 Games will feature some very fresh faces
IOC president, Thomas Bach, called cricket's return to the LA2028 program a "win-win situation" saying this: "The Olympic Games will give cricket a global stage and the opportunity to grow beyond the traditional cricket countries and regions," he said in a statement.
