Allegedly having just one martini before driving, Timberlake's story has fans and skeptics alike buzzing. Get the inside scoop on what really happened that night, straight from the bartenders who served him and the police report that tells a different tale!
The Martini in Question
In the glitzy world of celebrity mishaps, Justin Timberlake's recent DWI arrest in Sag Harbor, New York, takes the cocktail! The "No Angels" singer, known for his smooth moves and smoother vocals, found himself on the wrong side of the law, and it all started with what he claims was just one martini.
On a seemingly calm night, Timberlake was out with friends at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, enjoying what he insists was a single martini.
A bartender at the hotel confirmed to 'People' magazine, "He had one drink before he left." Another employee chimed in, "If he was drinking more, it wasn't here." But as the night unfolded, this one martini tale took a turn for the controversial.
Just after midnight on June 18, Timberlake's smooth night hit a bump. Driving through a stop sign in a 2025 BMW, the Sag Harbor Police Department had no choice but to pull him over.
According to the arresting officer, Timberlake's "eyes were bloodshot and glassy," and a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath."
Despite his claims of having only one martini, the police report paints a picture of impairment, with Timberlake unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests successfully.
"This [tour] is just something that keeps watching over me, more so on this tour than any other," the 43-year-old "Selfish" singer said of his 22 shows so far. "And that's that mostly all of us here in this room tonight, in this arena tonight, have grown up together. So many of you come up to me and say, 'I grew up with you, man.' "
Timberlake's Response
Despite the hiccup, Timberlake has not let the arrest slow him down. Continuing with his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, he took a moment during his Chicago performance to thank his fans for their unwavering support.
"You have been such a big and beautiful part of my life," he shared, highlighting the deep bond he shares with his fanbase.
"So many of you come up to me and say, 'I grew up with you, man,' " he said, "... I want each and every one of you to know I've grown up with you."
"A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests," the officer continued, per the report.
Timberlake, who has continued performing at his Forget Tomorrow World Tour since his arrest, is due back in court July 26.
As Timberlake prepares to face the music in court on July 26, the question remains: Can one martini really lead to a DWI arrest?
Or is there more to the story than meets the eye?
