Amy Schumer, Dave Chappelle, and more big-name comedians are coming to Los Angeles next month! As People reports, the city is set to play host to Netflix's brand-new comedy festival, "Netflix Is a Joke Fest", which will be taking place from April 27th to May 3rd. The event will highlight comedians who appear on the streaming platform through all kinds of activities planned throughout the city, such as stand-up comedy shows, various interactive events, and activations.

Many recognizable names to appear at Netflix comedy festival
Some of the other stars announced to be taking part in "Netflix Is a Joke Fest" include Ali Wong, Bill Burr, David Letterman, Jamie Foxx, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, Kevin Hart, Martin Lawrence, and the cast of Canadian television comedy Schitt's Creek.
As well, "Netflix Is a Joke Fest" will be shining a spotlight on the LGBTQ+ community through one of its events. "STAND OUT: An LGBTQ+ Celebration" is set to be headlined by Wanda Sykes, Alan Carr, Hannah Gadsby, Margaret Cho, Sandra Bernhard, Rosie O'Donnell, and more.
Netflix's festival "a unique celebration of the art of comedy"
"Netflix Is a Joke Fest" will be taking place at over 20 different venues throughout the Los Angeles area. "It's our honor to transform LA for one week into the funniest place on earth," Netflix's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, said in a statement.
"This festival is a unique celebration of the art of comedy, and the role it plays in reflecting our lives and defining culture," Sarandos went on to say of "Netflix Is a Joke Fest". "It’s a chance for comedy lovers to come together and see their favorite artists as well as discover new ones, and for us to be able to share the electricity and excitement of the festival in Los Angeles with Netflix members around the world".

The closing night of "Netflix Is a Joke Fest" is sure to be a memorable one as well, as it's set to feature the introduction of the inaugural comedian hall of fame, The Hall. George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Joan Rivers, and Robin Williams will be the first inductees of The Hall, with some comedic heavyweights paying homage to them! Chappelle, Hart, Sykes, Billy Crystal, Chris Rock, Whoopi Goldberg, Sarah Silverman, Jerry Seinfeld, and more will all be on hand for the special event.
Some of the events taking place as part of the festival, including its closing night, will be recorded and streamed on Netflix sometime this summer. Tickets for the general public to attend "Netflix Is a Joke Fest" go on sale this Friday on the festival's website.
