- MrBeast's Diagnosis
- How he feels about Crohn's disease
- He speaks openly about his illness
Jimmy Donaldson (26), better known as MrBeast, has grown from a humble YouTube beginner to one of the platform's biggest stars. But behind his success lies a personal challenge: his Crohn's disease diagnosis.
MrBeast talks about his Crohn's disease
In an interview with Steven Bartlett on 'The Diary of a CEO' podcast, MrBeast spoke openly about his diagnosis. He described Crohn's disease as a condition in which the immune system attacks its own body, resulting in severe symptoms: "I get sick all the time because for me to have my GI tract stop attacking itself, we basically have to shut down my immune system."
This illness led to significant weight loss and forced him to resort to Remicade, which shuts down his immune system. As a result, he is often ill and takes longer to overcome infections: "I just got the flu, I got COVID six times, I got shingles," he enumerated.
Dealing with challenges
Despite the health challenges, MrBeast remains optimistic and productive. He explains that he often feels ill and his energy is limited: "I just live life on hard mode, to be honest...If you wake up and you have energy, like you're already leaps and bounds ahead of me."
Nevertheless, his passion drives him and he has consulted with leading doctors in the field of Crohn's disease to get the best possible treatment.
"You just got to really love what you do, I mean and push through, it's pretty brutal," says MrBeast.
