Inspired by the legendary James Dean, Martin Sheen was ready to put in the hard work it would take to become a well-known actor. Hoping to gain recognition, Sheen would form his own theatre company with other actors.
His first big role would come in 1964 in the Broadway play The Subject Was Roses, which would go on to do so well that in 1968 Sheen was asked to star in the film of the same name! Nominated for his first Golden Globe, Sheen was well on his way to becoming a top star!
By 1979, Director Francis Ford Coppola was so taken by Martin Sheen's performance, especially in The Execution of Private Slovik that he just had to have him for his war film Apocalypse Now.
