Today, Kirk Douglas would have celebrated his 104th birthday. It's the first anniversary of his birth since the Hollywood icon passed away at age 103 on Feb. 5, 2020.
To mark the occasion, Michael Douglas—one of three surviving sons of the long-lived actor—remembered his late father in an Instagram tribute. The video features photos from across their seven-plus decades of shared life while Douglas answers the question: "What is the best advice your father gave you?"

In the tribute, Douglas reveals: "The best advice my father gave me was: Whatever you do, you do it to the best of your ability. You leave that job knowing that you couldn't have done anymore, and then screw it — walk away, you've done the best. Don't look back."
The video concludes with the message, "Happy Birthday Dad. I miss you. Love, Michael."
Michael Douglas, now 76 years old, was one of two sons (also Joel) born to Kirk Douglas and his first wife Diana Dill. The late actor also had two sons (Peter and Eric) with his second wife Anne Buydens, his widow, who survives today at 101 years old.
