Megan Thee Stallion recently received an incredible honour from the place where she grew up! As Entertainment Tonight shares, the "Savage" rapper appeared at a ceremony in Houston on Sunday to accept a special award in recognition of her extraordinary achievements.
Megan Thee Stallion eighteenth recipient of Houston award
Megan was presented the Congressional District Humanitarian Award by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. The government official explained that it is an honour awarded to someone with "that special promise and special history," mentioning that it has only been given out several times over the years. In accepting the award, Megan becomes the eighteenth individual to be awarded the distinction!
During her acceptance speech, Megan said she felt "so honoured" to receive this recognition from the city of Houston. She called it "my responsibility to take care of the city that took care of me" and then went on to make a sweet dedication! The star talked about how she "was raised by very giving women," singling out the impact of one of these woman in particular. "I want to dedicate this award to my grandma because she taught me to be the woman I am today," Megan declared.
Megan also had another honour to celebrate over the weekend. That's because on Saturday, the star officially earned her bachelor's degree in health administration through Texas Southern University's College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Earlier this year, Megan said she wanted to have "the biggest graduation party" once she made it through her studies, so hopefully she gets to do just that!
