He wanted to be a professional hockey player!
Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey is switching things up this fall by joining the faculty of the University of Texas in Austin. He will be a professor of practice at the school’s Moody College of Communication in the Department of Radio-Television-Film starting in the fall semester.

McConaughey himself graduated from the school in 1993 and has served as a visiting instructor there since 2015. He was co-teaching the Script to Screen film production course alongside director Scott Rice according to EW.
Matthew McConaughey: "It's the class I wish I would have had"
Matthew said in a statement regarding his class this fall that "it’s the class I wish I would have had when I was in film school. Working in the classroom with these students gives me a chance to prepare them. Making movies, turning words on paper into film, is both a science and art — no matter the time or generation. The elements of truth and genuine joy for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus."
McConaughey plans to cover his own films
According to the University of Texas, the fall 2019 class will cover McConaughey's films The Gentlemen which opens in January and Mud (2013), with the director of the latter, Jeff Nichols, scheduled to visit. We can only imagine how long the wait list is for this class with the one and only Matthew McConaughey himself being the professor!
