Poor big-hearted Lisa Marie Presley is going through the wringer. Not only has Elvis Presley's daughter lost her only son but now her ex-husband is using her heartbreak as a way to take full custody of their children.
Lisa Marie Presley's Ex-Husband Tries To Strip Her Primary Custody Of Their Twins
The King of Rock's only grandson Benjamin Kough's tragic suicide has rocked Lisa Marie Presley's world. Her representative said she was understandably "inconsolable and beyond devastated." She shared an incredibly close bond with her deeply emotional son and always remarked on how similar he looked like his grandfather Elvis Presley.
Unfortunately for Lisa, while mourning her loss, her nasty divorce with Michael Lockwood continues on. Michael has filed new documents to the courts regarding their divorce in hopes of stripping Lisa of primary custody of their 11-year old twin girls Harper and Finley. In the documents obtained by The Blast, Michael has used her heartbreak as reason to take full custody.
His filings stated "Lisa Marie Presley's son shot and killed himself in their home (Although she was not there at the time.) With all due sympathy and respect, this created a new and unaddressed twofold problem: the safety of the children and the greater likelihood of [Presley] to relapse into drug and alcohol dependency."
Lisa and guitarist Michael have been having a bitter divorce, child support and custody battle and now barely two weeks after Benjamin Kough's death, Michael has callously and/or protectively used his death to regain custody of their sweet daughters.
Lisa has been candid about becoming addicted to opioids after recovering from the painful birth of her twins. In her foreword in Harry Nelson's book The United States of Opioids: A Prescription for Liberating a Nation in Pain Lisa said "It only took a short-term prescription of opioids in the hospital for me to feel the need to keep taking them."
Presley has largely been able to keep her past struggles private but now in the divorce, Michael Lockwood has been spilling details in his court filings that are being made public.
