Yael was born on May 31st, 1984 in France and has dual citizenship through her French father Jean Pierre Grobglas and Austrian mother Eva Rosner. Once she was two years old her whole family emigrated to Ra'anana, Israel.
Life Before Fame: Yael Grobglas From Jane the Virgin
Since Yael was a young child she felt drawn to fine arts and by the time she was an adolescent she was deeply involved in ballet. Then she began modeling and participating in advertising campaigns.
Yael Grobglas landed her first role in the Israeli sci-fi series Ha'Yi and after two seasons she decided she wanted to polish her acting skills so she studied acting full time. After 3 years she graduated from Yoram Lowenstein Performing Arts Studio in Tel Aviv.

With her talent, Yael obtained international recognition for her part in the horror film Rabbies. She also starred in the Israeli sitcom Ha-Shualim and played "Linda Christie" in the Broadway adaptation of Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam.
Then in 2012, Grobglas was cast in the comedy-drama Tanuchi and in 2013 she starred as "Olivia" in the historical drama Reign. Finally, she landed her big break role of "Petra Solano" one of the most beloved villains in the addictive and fun series Jane the Virgin.
"Petra" was the sneaky and manipulative villain who impressively gained the love of fans through her hilarious quips and sympathetic growth, even becoming a surprising LGBTQ+ icon!
Yael Grobglas was also featured in Supergirl, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and was even featured as a guest in Gordan Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen!

Although her career may seem short, it is still characterized by her impressive work. She currently lives with her handsome high school sweetheart husband Artem Kroupenev and the two actually gave birth to their first child, Arielle, in 2020!
