Born July 5, 1965, Kathryn Erbe got her start in acting while she was still a student at NYU. Her very first role would come when she was cast as "Lynn Redgrave's" daughter on the sitcom Chicken Soup.
Kathryn would then go on to have a successful career with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, including performances in productions of A Streetcar Named Desire, Curse of the Starving Class, The Grapes of Wrath, and The Speed of Darkness, before making her way back to television.

Her first big television role would come in 1998 when she was cast as "Shirley Bellinger" on drama series Oz. While still filming for Oz, Kathryn would land her second big role in 2001 as "Detective Alexandra Eames" on Law & Order spinoff series Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Kathryn would play the part of "Alexandra" for a total of 142 episodes over the show's 10 seasons. Audiences and critics alike loved Kathryn's performance, and she would be nominated for a Satellite Award for Best Actress!

Since her time on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Kathryn has continued to make appearances on episodes of Law & Order": SVU. She has also appeared in a number of films including Worst Friends (2014), Mistress America (2015), and Assassination Nation (2018). Most recently you can watch Kathryn in the 2022 series City on a Hill.
The now 59-year-old was married to her Oz co-star, Terry Kinney, and shares two children with the actor, however, the two have since split. While she is currently single, Kathryn enjoys spending her free time with her daughter Maeve and son Carson. The star has most recently used her "law enforcement" background to champion for the Black Lives Matter movement!
