The broadcast of a recent new documentary about R Kelly and his numerous detailed allegations of sexual and physical abuse against women and underage girls, has given celebrities who have worked with Kelly himself, the chance to speak out. The sexual and physical abuse of these women happened over the span of several decades and film-maker Dream Hampton said that the film depicted how R Kelly had "built an ecosystem around his predation after almost three decades of preying on young and vulnerable women" according to BBC News.
Lady Gaga was among the first few artists to speak out against Kelly concerning her 2013 collaboration of Do What U Want (With My Body) with him. She has apologized for working with him and has vowed to remove their duet from all streaming services. Lady Gaga called the stories "horrifying and indefensible. I stand behind these women 1000%", BBC News reported.
Following Lady Gaga's address to this situation, Chance The Rapper issued a statement also apologizing for having worked with R Kelly as well as rappers Meek Mill and 6lack and actresses Jada Pinkett Smith and Kerry Washington. Meanwhile, R Kelly and his lawyers are stating that he has been falsely accused and that the documentary is meant only to fill "reality TV time", denying any accusations about the R&B star.
