'The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band'

Kurt Russell began his acting career in 1962, but for an uncredited role in Elvis Presley's It Happened at the World Fair. He played in many large TV roles for ABC, NBC and CBS for the following years. By 1968, Russell starred in the musical film The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (pictured here center), where he would meet his future partner, Goldie Hawn.

'Elvis'

By 1979, Russell was starring in his first Golden Globe nominated television film, Elvis. The film was directed by John Carpenter, the same man who directed the horror film Halloween. The film was also nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for Russell, respectively. This would be Russell's last TV role, ever.

'Silkwood'

His next nominated role would be for 1983's Silkwood, starring alongside Cher and Meryl Streep. The biographical drama film, directed by The Graduate's Mike Nichols, was nominated for five Academy Awards. Russell himself was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor- Motion Picture.

One of fan's most favored films among Russell is his role in Overboard, starring his beloved partner Goldie Hawn. The 1987 rom-com has become a cult classic globally! Loose adaptations of the film have been re-created in India, South Korea, and even in the U.S!

In 1993, Kurt Russell portrayed the infamous gunfighter "Wyatt Earp" in the western Tombstone. The film grossed nearly $57 million in the box office, making it number 16 in the list of highest-grossing Western films since 1979.

From westerns to sci-fi, Russell has starred in it all. His role in 1994's Stargate became a financial success in the box office, where the film grossed $196.6 million! The science fiction movie also includes The Blacklist's James Spader.

'Miracle'

Another fan favorite role of Kurt Russell was in 2004's Miracle. The film was based off of the 1980 Winter Olympics ice hockey match between the U.S. and Soviet Union, where Russell was heavily praised for his role. Famed film critic Roger Ebert stated that "Russell does real acting here".

'The Hateful Eight'

In 2015, Russell appeared in his second Quentin Tarantino film, The Hateful Eight. The movie is a modern day western, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Madsen. His first film with the famous director was in 2007's Death Proof, where he starred as an evil stuntman.

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'

Russell made his Marvel debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where he plays Chris Pratt's celestial father, "Ego". As the sequel of 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, the film grossed an incredible $863.8 million worldwide.
