Following the backlash, a friend of the reality star Chrissy Teigen is announcing her support of the line, and defends Kardashian against her haters!

Over the weekend, Kim Kardashian faced some backlash over a new shapewear maternity line for her fashion brand, SKIMS. Posting her promo on Instagram, the reality star labeled her new line as "maternity solutionwear" and many are not thrilled!
The backlash was prompted by many who thought it was disturbing that Kardashian was promoting a product that would "slim" pregnant women, and make them feel like their changing bodies are something to hide.
Despite the backlash, Kardashian made it clear the line is not slim, but to support women that are expecting, as the pregnancy journey can be taxing on one's body.
She's asking for empathy!

"If you haven’t been pregnant before you may not know the struggle of what it’s like carrying all of this weight the way I did along with millions of strong women," she said in an Instagram post in response to the backlash.
She further went on to explain on Twitter that the "belly part" of the garment does not slim the belly, but hold everything in place for those uncomfortable, heavy days.
In another string of tweets, Kardashian clarifies that the leggings are to help with compression, as women who are pregnant often get uncomfortable and swell, as Kardashian did with both pregnancies due to preeclampsia.

"It is also worn after you have given birth and provides the comfort and support that most women need after delivery especially if you are recovering from a cesarean," she mentioned.
Despite the backlash, Kardashian was met with a lot of support from expecting mothers who said they were thrilled such a line exists, especially those suffering from round ligament pain and sciatica pain.

Among those to show support for Kardashian was the pregnant beauty herself, Chrissy Teigen. The soon-to-be-mother of three shared with her Instagram story how she feels about Kardashian's new line, and wore her maternity SKIMS in the video.

"When you’re pregnant and you’re sitting down a lot or on bedrest, like me, you tend to just sit there and if you’re wearing basic a--s underwear all it does is roll inside and folds," Teigen explained.
"This is not about creating a body that we don’t know we have," Teigen continued. "Like, we’re not trying to do anything to trick you. We’re pregnant. We would just like to feel good about ourselves in a time where mentally it can be really challenging."
SKIMS maternity line will be available on September 16 and offers a wide variety of colours, sizes, and designs.
