Actor and comedian Ken Jeong was born July 13, 1969 in Detroit, Michigan. Raised by his South Korean immigrant parents, Ken grew up incredibly gifted, and was pursing a career in medicine when he discovered his passion for acting. On top of his already demanding medical studies, Ken picked up acting courses and began performing regularly at open mic nights. After graduating with his medical degree, Ken would move to LA to begin practicing medicine and after several years of working as a physician would make the switch to acting!

Taking on the part of actress Awkwafina's father "Goh Wye Mun", Ken Jeong begged to be apart of the film! The film has been essential in drawing light to Asian American actors and opening up new casting possibilities for them, and as Ken stated in an interview with Buzzfeed, Crazy Rich Asians is "literally the most important Asian American movie since The Joy Luck Club."
