Kelly Rizzo: "I can actually laugh"
Kelly Rizzo (44) is finding her way back to laughter and joy, nearly two years after the tragic loss of her husband, Bob Saget (65). Rizzo opened up to 'PEOPLE' at Wednesday's Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine, a tribute to Saget's legacy and a fundraiser for the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
She candidly shared her journey towards healing, stating, "I am in a much better place now than I was in the very beginning." She has found solace in revisiting memories of Saget, explaining, "The second year has definitely given me the ability to look at videos, look at photos and have memories of Bob where I can actually laugh and appreciate them".
Rizzo's biggest takeaway from her time with Saget is "gratitude." She expressed her admiration for Saget's comedy career, stating, "I was just always so amazed by [Bob's] confidence that he had with his comedy." Saget's legacy continues to inspire Rizzo, who finds comfort and laughter in watching his friends do stand-up and his favourite shows.

Bob Saget was an outspoken advocate for the Scleroderma Research Foundation, a cause he dedicated nearly 30 years of his life to after his sister Gay died from the disease. His dedication to the cause was evident at the Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine fundraiser, which raised over $1.2 million for the foundation.
Rizzo believes this “would mean a lot" to Saget, stating, "he would just be so honoured and touched that people still cared so much, and were still paying tribute to him, and coming out and supporting the cause".
