A devastating split

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock are calling it quits after 7 years of marriage. The couple officially filed on June 4 shocking fans and family all over at the seemingly unexpected break-up.

However, a source close to the couple has revealed details of the marriage, sharing that it wasn't out of nowhere after all.

Both Clarkson and Blackstock have full and busy schedules, and apparently the strain of everyday work-life being abruptly changed during the Coronavirus pandemic really put a dent in their marriage.

"It was a stressful time," the source revealed to People. The couple, who have been isolating in Montana, felt that their issues "exacerbated" while social distancing.

Clarkson previously said that "We've been in really close quarters and it's been kind of nuts. I'm not going to lie," when asked about how she was handling quarantine life.

"There's definitely some cabin fever going on. It's challenging being a working mom," she added.

According to another insider, the couple has been acting more like friends rather than a couple.

"Things had changed in their marriage and the split was a while coming," says the insider. "They both work so hard. It's nearly impossible to enjoy each other, especially with the children needing constant attention."

Back in L.A., Clarkson is hoping to move forward in a positive direction.

"Kelly's been through a lot, and she thought Brandon was her happily ever after," the source said. "It's sad."

Clarkson is continuing working on her album for The Voice, and will hopefully remember the words to her smash hit, "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger."
