Kate Jackson had a pretty full schedule while she starred as "Sabrina Duncan" in Charlie's Angels alongside Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith from 1976 to 1981. It seems as though the actress was so busy that she even had to turn down some roles due to scheduling conflicts and contractual obligations to Charlie's Angels. One of those roles happened to be the starring role in the film Kramer vs. Kramer.
Kate Jackson turned down a role in Kramer vs. Kramer
Kate Jackson was offered the role of "Joanna Kramer" in the 1979 emotional drama Kramer vs. Kramer alongside Dustin Hoffman. Due to the shooting schedule of Charlie's Angels conflicting with that of Kramer vs. Kramer, she had to turn down the amazing opportunity. It was then, up-and-comer Meryl Streep who filled the role of "Joanna" and many say that it was this role that actually kick-started her amazing career.
Meryl Streep's breakthrough in Kramer vs. Kramer
Meryl Streep was so remarkable in Kramer vs. Kramer that she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1979 and the film was the highest grossing movie of that year! If it wasn't for Kate Jackson having to turn down that role, who knows when Meryl would have skyrocketed to fame and who knows what would have happened to Kate Jackson's career. We will never know, however we have to say that it seems both women ended up with very successful careers in the entertainment industry!
