On Thursday, Julie Andrews appeared via video chat for an interview with Good Morning America. She spoke highly of the responses to the coronavirus pandemic. The Sound of Music actress said that, "We're being very good and absorbing all the rules." She's a good judge of the matter, also, seeing as she's lived through this type of global crisis before.

Andrews, who was born in England in 1935, lived through the WWII years in her childhood. And she sees parallels in how the world is coming together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
"There's just so much out there at the moment and people being so wonderful and bonding," she said on Good Morning America.
"This is so much, to me, World War II in a way. I’m very much reminded of that because I was around at that time, believe it or not. And the sense of unity that it provides and the way people do bond and get together is just phenomenal."

The beloved screen and stage actress is, of course, known for her acclaimed roles in The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. In the 2000s, she's primarily performed only in voice roles, which have including parts in the Shrek and Despicable Me franchises.
In the meantime, Andrews, who turns 85 in October, recommends that everyone should: "Stay safe. Follow the rules. Be compassionate and kind if you can."
