- Julianna Margulies is a celebrated TV actress
- She is best know for 'The Good Wife'
- THESE recent comments got her criticized
During a candid chat on 'The Back Room With Andy Ostroy' podcast, the star of 'The Morning Show' didn't hold back her disappointment with the Black and LGBTQ communities' response to the situation.
Julianna doesn't hold back
Margulies, known for her activism, expressed her dismay over what she sees as a lack of support from these communities for Israel. "I'm the first person to march [for] Black Lives Matter," she declared, highlighting her history of standing up against injustice. But her words took a sharp turn when she accused some of being "brainwashed" into backing Palestine.
The actress didn't stop there! She took a swipe at TikTok, calling for its ban and warning progressive youth about the harsh realities of Islamic fundamentalism. "It's those kids [who use pronouns] who are spewing this anti-Semitic hate," she warned, painting a grim picture of their fate in an Islamic country.
Margulies' comments didn't go unnoticed, sparking a wildfire of reactions across social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. Critics, including Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah and NPR critic Eric Deggans, slammed her remarks, suggesting that her views on solidarity were misguided and divisive.
"It's those kids who are spewing antisemitic hate that have no idea if they stepped foot in an Islamic country, these people who want us to call them 'they/them' or whatever they want us to call them, which I have respectfully really made a point of doing. Like be whoever you want to be. It's those people that will be the first people beheaded, and their heads played with as a soccer ball, like a soccer ball on the field," Margulies said. "And that's who they're supporting? Terrorists who don't want women to have their rights, don't want LGB- LGBTQ people get executed bar none… and this is who you're supporting."
But wait, there's more!
'The Good Wife' star took aim at college educators, wondering "Where are the professors calling all of these students into the auditorium and saying ‘Hold on a minute. Guys, do you understand what a terrorism organization is about? Learn what you are supporting.’"
"There are Muslims, Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, and Jews that are being held hostage, and you're ripping down posters? Why?" Margulies asked. "What is that going to do? What are you actually trying to say?"
Also interesting:
She went on to say: "The Nazis were watching how the Jim Crow South were treating slaves and said, ‘Oh, great call, let’s do that playbook. That’s what we’ll do to the Jews.’ Which is also why, in the Civil Rights movement, the Jews were the ones that walked side by side with the Blacks to fight for their rights, because they know. And now the Black community isn’t embracing us and saying, ‘We stand with you the way you stood with us’?"
"Jews died for their cause. Where’s the history lesson in that? Who’s teaching these kids?" Margulies expressed.
"Because the fact that the entire Black community isn’t standing with us to me says either they just don’t know, or they’ve been brainwashed to hate Jews. But when you’ve been marginalized so much as a community, the way I feel we have, isn’t that when you step up?"
'The Hollywood Reporter' has reached out to Margulies for a response to the backlash, but the silence is deafening. Will the actress clarify her controversial statements, or will this be a stain on her reputation as an ally to marginalized groups? Stay tuned as this drama unfolds!
