Johnny Depp: A return to Hollywood studios
After a highly publicised legal battle with Amber Heard that concluded in his favour in 2022, Johnny Depp is making his return. As part of a settlement, Heard, known for her role in 'Aquaman,' agreed to pay Depp one million dollars in December 2022.
Despite the tumultuous events in his personal life, Depp continues to be a sought-after actor. 'Day Drinker' marks his first significant studio project since 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' in 2018.
Penélope Cruz: Support and collaboration
Penélope Cruz, who has collaborated with Depp in multiple films, including 'Blow' (2001) and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' (2011), has voiced her support for him in the past.
In 2020, she provided statements to the court asserting that she had never witnessed any violent behaviour from Depp. "Many years have passed and I have not only made 3 movies with him, but I also count on him as a great friend," Cruz noted in her court documents.
At the San Sebastián Film Festival in September 2024, Penélope Cruz posted a selfie with Johnny Depp, who attended the event to present his directorial film 'Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness.' Recently, Depp also starred in the French production 'Jeanne Du Barry,' and he has several upcoming projects, including the animated film 'Johnny Puff: Secret Mission.'
