John Travolta has accomplished many things in his legendary career, but winning an Emmy Award for acting is not one of them.
The 67-year-old star will have a chance to do just that at this year's Emmys, after he earned a nomination this week for his work in the comedy series Die Hart.
John Travolta's big news: He's a 2021 Emmy Award nominee
On Tuesday, the Television Academy unveiled its 2021 nominees, and Travolta scored a nomination for "Outstanding Actor In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series."
John reacted to the big news on Instagram, writing: "Congrats to my fellow actors Nathalie and Kevin. Let's have some fun the night of the Emmys!!"
Travolta played "Ron Wilcox" in season 1 of Die Hart, Kevin Hart's comedy show about becoming an action star. It debuted on Quibi and is now moving to Roku. Travolta's co-stars Hart and Nathalie Emmanuel also scored Emmy nominations of their own.
John Travolta could win Emmy after difficult year
If Travolta takes home the award, it would be his first acting Emmy win on his second-ever nomination. But he is actually an Emmy winner as a producer of The People v. O.J. Simpson in 2016.
Fans are overjoyed for Travolta's nomination, which came just one day after the first anniversary of his wife Kelly Preston's death. She tragically passed away on July 12, 2020, after a battle with breast cancer.
One fan even commented on Travolta's post: "I know your guardian angels are shining down." We'll be cheering Travolta on during awards night! The 2021 Emmys air on Sept. 19.
