John Lennon (1940-1980) is today survived by two descendants, his sons Julian and Sean Lennon. The men are half-brothers: Julian was born in 1963 to Lennon and Cynthia Powell, while Sean was born in 1975 to Lennon and Yoko Ono.
Today, Julian is 60 and Sean is 47, and both made names for themselves as successful musicians and artists. Here's what they're up to today.
John Lennon's sons today: Julian Lennon
Eldest son Julian is a singer, author, and photographer — all pursuits which he's kept busy with in recent years. As a solo musician, Lennon's most recent album came in 2011, but he's sung on many artists' tracks since then. In 2020, he featured on Dennis DeYoung's "To the Good Old Days."
The multitalented Lennon is also the author of a bestselling trilogy of children's books, titled Touch the Earth, Love the Earth, and Heal the Earth (2017-2019). What's more, he's an avid photographer who devotedly shares his craft with followers on Instagram.
Sean Ono Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Oko Today
Sean Ono Lennon, who shares a birthday with his late father, is known today for his diverse career in music as a performer and producer, and for his environmental activism. Over the years, he's released solo albums, worked with Cibo Matto and The Plastic Ono Band, composed film scores, and produced a range of artists.
In 2020, Ono Lennon produced album Paraphernalia by Temples, and was seen covering "Mambo Sun" with Charlotte Kemp Muhl—his partner and bandmate in Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger—on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Like Julian, Sean also keeps fans up to date on his Instagram page.
The half-brothers collaborated in 2020 on John Lennon at 80, a two-part special that aired in October on BBC Radio 2. Sean hosted and interviewed Julian as well as Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Yoko Ono.
John Lennon would have turned 82 years old on Oct. 9, 2022.
