John Legend Admits To Cheating In His Past To Dax Shepard: "I Definitely Was Dishonest And Selfish"

John Legend is coming clean about his not-so-wholesome past. The famous musician is opening up to buddy Dax Shepard about his mistakes and admits to cheating in the past, although he confirms this was all before his happy marriage to Chrissy Teigen!

Appearing on Armchair Expert podcast, Legend opens up to Shepard about his past cheating habits and admits that he was selfish. Shepard then also admitted his own "deplorable" past with cheating, but both confirm that their marriages now are healthy and happy.

While speaking on his past, Legend admits that because he was homeschooled for a few grades, he was always younger than his fellow classmates once he went to school, and wasn't always popular with the ladies.

"I did have a history with it, especially in my 20s," Legend says of his cheating habits.

"I think what happened for me, you go through a lot of your life in your teens and I was younger than everybody in high school and college, and so I just didn’t get a lot of girls,” the musician said. “When I started to get that attention, I loved it."

He went on to admit he always kept his relationships at an arm's length so that he would feel better about what he was doing.

"I escaped ‘technically cheating’ by keeping my relationship ill-defined. But it was really cheating. I definitely was dishonest and selfish," he shared.

John Legend reveals how Chrissy changed him

"At a certain point, you just realize you’re happier being honest. You’re happier being faithful and being in love with one person," he added, of course referring to his model wife and mother of his two children, Chrissy Teigen.

The two met in 2006 while filming a music video, and since then he's been a different man.

"At a certain point, I just decided that person was Chrissy. I decided I wasn’t gonna mess with somebody else anymore," Legend revealed, before admitting the two got very close and cozy that first night they hung out.

"We were both seeing other people at the time," he shared. "There was kind of looseness at the very beginning but we fell in love not long after that."

"It’s so much easier, your whole life is lighter,” he added. "Your mind is freer, everything is better."

Legend married Teigen in 2013, and have since had two children together, Luna, 4, and Miles, 2.
