"Joe Exotic" whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, is currently serving a 22-year sentence for a murder-for-hire scheme after he was convicted of attempting to hire two men to kill animal sanctuary owner, Carole Baskin.
This week in an Instagram post, the now famous inmate let the world know that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
“It is with a sad face that I have to tell you the doctors called me in today to break the news that my prostate biopsy came back with an aggressive cancer, I am still waiting on the results from other test as well,” he posted.

In his post, he maintained his innocence and pleaded to be let go, so he can recover at home. His attorney John Phillips confirmed the matter to CNN.
“The PSA test is a blood test used primarily to screen for prostate cancer. It was high. He finally obtained biopsies. They revealed cancer. Medical care is different in a prison environment and fewer options are available,” Phillips said.
Tiger King 2 is set to be released on Netflix soon, and it remains to be seen whether or not more details are revealed about the case. Although Baskins's family filed a lawsuit against Netflix for use of unauthorized footage, the second installment of the documentary is highly anticipated by fans around the world.
