Joan Jett, born Joan Marie Larkin on September 22nd, 1958, grew up first in Pennsylvania, then in Maryland, before finally settling in Los Angeles, California. She obtained her first guitar at the youthful age of 13 and started pursuing her musical interests, even renaming herself Joan Jett due to the rocker-sounding nature of it.

In all honesty, Joan Jett looks similar now as she did when she was just starting out her rock career! She and Sandy West had formed the band The Runaways, which was the most popular all-female rock band of the '70s. They released hits like "Cherry Bomb" and even opened for some of the most famous bands, such as The Ramones, Cheap Trick and Van Halen.

After The Runaways, she formed her own solo career in the '80s and in the U.K., however, it did not succeed in the U.S. She eventually ended up forming Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, which is her current band today.
