Jennifer Aniston's Fantastic Career In Pictures

Jennifer Joanna Aniston was born on February 11th, 1969 in Sherman Oaks, California. She comes from a family of fame- her father is Greek-born actor John Aniston who starred in the soap Days of Our Lives, and her mother was also an actress. By age 11, she was attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan, New York where she found her calling for acting.“A teacher is never a giver of truth; he is a guide, a pointer to the truth that each student must find for himself.”

Before landing her iconic role as "Rachel", Aniston worked on a couple off-broadway productions and even two failed TV shows. During her struggles in New York, she worked various jobs, such as a telemarketer, waitress, and bike messenger. In the late 1980s, she moved back to Los Angeles.

Luck found her in Los Angeles, where her persistence paid off. In 1994, NBC productions started the sitcom ‘Friends,' with Aniston originally supposed to play "Monica" instead of "Rachel". Aniston had also turned down a spot on ‘Saturday Night Live’ for the series. Friends is now known to be an international sensation. Her relationship with "Ross" captivated viewers from 1994-2004.

In 2002, Jennifer Aniston finally won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award for ‘Friends.’ In total, she had five nominations over the years for this series. She was the only cast member out of the six to win an award, too!

After her success of ‘Friends,’ Jennifer Aniston began acting in more and more films. One of her popular film roles was playing alongside Jim Carrey in 2003's ‘Bruce Almighty.’ The following year, she played Ben Stiller's husband in the film ‘Along Came Polly.’ Aniston is known for her consistent roles in romantic comedies.

In 2005, Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson starred in the comedy drama ‘Marley & Me. ‘This film was released on Christmas Day and set one of the highest records in box office sales, earning $14.75 million that day alone. A sad film to say the least, but "Rachel" clearly still has her fans!

Throughout much of her movie career, Aniston continues to play girlfriend/wife roles with major Hollywood actors. This time: Ben Affleck in the 2009 film, ‘He's Just Not That Into You.’ This rom-com grossed $178 million globally, and included other famous stars such as Scarlett Johansson and Ginnifer Goodwin.

Yet, the actress doesn't only stick to her classic romantic comedy formats. In 2014, Aniston went out of her comfort zone to star in the drama, ‘Cake.’ She plays a hostile wife who has suffered physical and emotional trauma. Although it didn't gain a lot of box office success, she did receive nominations for a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award.

By the end of 2018, Aniston made her Netflix debut with the film ‘Dumplin’.' And in 2019, she starred alongside funny-man Adam Sandler for the film 'Murder Mystery'. The comedic duo created a new record from this film: the biggest opening of a movie in Netflix's history.

Aniston also made waves in television with 'The Morning Show,' which premiered on Apple TV+ in 2019. Her performance as anchor Alex Levy earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award and multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. The show’s success led to a third season in 2023, with a fourth on the way.
