During a talk at Columbia University, rapper Jay-Z opened up about his friend Kobe Bryant's death, who passed away on January 26, 2020, in a helicopter crash along his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

Jay-Z reveals what Kobe Bryant told him before dying

The 50-year-old hip hop artist just shared what the NBA legend told him one of the last times they met: "One of the last things he said to me was, ‘You’ve gotta see Gianna play basketball.’ And that was one of the most hurtful things, because he was so proud."

Then Jay-Z continued:

"And the look on his face was like — I looked at him and said, ‘Oh, she’s going to be the best female basketball player in the world.’”

Jay-Z is still mourning Kobe Bryant's death. He said he and his wife, Beyoncé, took Kobe and Gianna's deaths really tough. "Just a great human being and was in a great space in his life," he concluded.
