It seems like little Blue Ivy Carter is already following in her parents' footsteps! At the 2019 BET Soul Train Awards, Jay-Z and Beyoncé's daughter won her first songwriting award for contributing to Beyoncé's 2019 song "Brown Skin Girl," featuring artists WizKid and Saint Jhn.
Blue Ivy took home the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award, which also credits her parents as co-writers of the song, which is part of The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack. The seven-year-old opens and closes the track with the lyrics "Brown skin girl, your skin just like pearls, the best thing in the world, never trade you for anybody else." How adorable is that?
Blue Ivy already has a killer resumé in show business
Blue Ivy Carter is already building an amazing career in show business. A couple weeks ago she got her first Billboard Hot 100 with the same song "Brown Skin Girl," which debuted at number 76 on the chart last summer.
Blue Ivy's killer resumé does not surprise us at all. Her mom, Beyoncé Knowles, was the most-awarded artist at the Soul Train Awards this year, with 16 statues. While her dad, rapper Jay-Z, is considered to be one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time, as well as one of the richest American stars. We guess this is what happens when you have such talented parents!
