Jason Momoa Opens Up About Being A Dad, After Growing Up Without One: "I Didn't Know What It Takes"

Jason Momoa is opening up about what it means to be a father to his son after growing up without one himself. The Aquaman actor is revealing his struggles during fatherhood in his latest interview.

As Jason Momoa goes along his fatherhood journey, the A-lister is reflecting on all that it means to be a dad. After growing up without one himself, he reveals how challenging some moments have been.

The actor also reveals one of his most important parts of fatherhood thus far has been his ability to remain vulnerable and open with his son.

After spending a childhood without a father himself, Jason Momoa is reflecting on what it means to be a dad to his own son and opens up about some of the challenges he has faced.

In his latest interview with InStyle, Momoa said that having a lack of a male role model throughout his childhood didn't prepare him for the future he was about to have.

"I didn't know what it takes to be a dad," he said. "I don't want to just tell my son, 'Because I said so'. I really want to connect, and I want him to be vulnerable and open."

His 11-year-old son, Wolf, has inspired him to be a more vulnerable person, with Momoa saying, "I'm a warrior, and I will lay it down. But I'm also the first one to say, 'I have a lot of problems, and I want to be able to correct those problems.'"

For his interview, Momoa also wore a pink scrunchie in his hair, adding that, "We all have the feminine and the male side in us, and we need to embrace both."

"Pink is just a beautiful colour," he continued. "And I'm pretty secure in my masculinity. I don't really give a s--t what anyone thinks."

Momoa then also opens up about accepting all parts of himself and admits that he regularly seeks therapy after filming, especially when he's filming action scenes.

"I'm amping myself up all day long, and then my nervous system doesn't know that I'm not lopping people's heads off," he said. "For me to relax and sit still is next to impossible."

Momoa also shares that following Game of Thrones, he struggled in Hollywood and found himself in debt before landing his role as "Aquaman."

"I mean, we were starving after Game of Thrones," he recalled. "I couldn't get work. It's very challenging when you have babies and you're completely in debt."
