Gina Rodriguez was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 30, 1984, and is the daughter of Puerto Rican parents. While she performed salsa dancing for most of her life (up until the age of 17!), Rodriguez also began her interest in acting around the same time. She was accepted into Columbia University's Theatrical Collaboration already at 16! She would eventually attend NYU and earned her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in 2005...

Gina Rodriguez and Jane the Virgin

Gina began professionally acting in 2004 by appearing in a couple of episodes of Law & Order, and other small TV roles. By 2011, she was already being nominated and awarded for her roles in films like Go for It! (2011) and Filly Brown (2013).

Yet, it was in 2014 where she landed the main role as "Jane" in the comedic series Jane the Virgin. In it, she plays the role of a young, devout Catholic Latina who becomes accidentally artificially inseminated and pregnant! The role earned her her first Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy.

She played the role of "Jane" from 2014 up until the series finale in 2019. You can still check out the series on Netflix!

Her next films set to be released this year include the comedy Kajillionaire with Evan Rachel Wood and the drama Awake. She'll also be in the comedy Bobbie Sue and the live-action film Carmen Sandiego, which was just recently announced! In other words, Gina has a FULL plate ahead of her!

In her personal life, Gina has been married to actor and MMA fighter Joe LoCicero since May 2019. The attractive pair met each other on the set of Jane the Virgin in 2016, and the rest is history!

Although we miss Jane, we're excited about what's next for Gina and her incredible career! She most certainly has the cards in her favor as a talented, young, and beautiful actress of Hollywood today.
