James Van Der Beek and his family have officially moved to Texas! As People shares, Van Der Beek took to social media on Tuesday to explain what led them to make the decision to uproot themselves from Los Angeles and begin a new life for themselves in the Lone Star State.
Van Der Beek recounts family's experiences over the year
Van Der Beek announced the exciting news of his family's arrival in Texas and explained their big move on Instagram. "And... we made it," the Dawson's Creek actor began his lengthy caption, which he shared along with a photo of his kids and dogs enjoying the outdoors in their new home state.
"In the last ten months, we’ve had two late-term pregnancy losses, each of which put @vanderkimberly in the hospital," he explained, "we spent Christmas break thinking she had a tumor (the doctor was wrong, thank god), a business colleague I hired hijacked the project and stabbed me in the back, I was prematurely booted off a reality dancing show I was favored to win in front of the whole world, and my mom died."
Van Der Beek has been documenting family road trip
Van Der Beek also mentioned how after all of the major events he'd mentioned had gone on, the world itself then completely changed due to the coronavirus pandemic! "And a shut-down," he continued. "All of that led to some drastic changes in our lives, and dreams, and priorities... and landed us here. Overflowing with profound gratitude today."
Last month, Van Der Beek announced that he and his family were leaving their California home behind for their next adventure. And as People mentions, the actor and his wife have been documenting their road trip from California to Texas for the past 10 days! Van Der Beek has been sharing pictures of his family as well as some scenic views from their journey. He also revealed that they rescued two puppies "on day one"!
Van Der Beek's last update before getting to Texas summed up his attitude towards his decision pretty perfectly! "Now, in the midst of a move to a new state 1500 miles from any place I’ve ever lived... I’m starting to feel like freedom is daring to love with all of your heart... and having the courage to put what you love first," he wrote. "I’m working on it..."
Here's hoping that Van Der Beek and his family's big move will bring them many happy memories to make up for all of the unfortunate incidents they went through last year!
