All About Katherine Kelly Lang & Susan Flannery's Sweet Friendship

Susan Flannery and Katherine Kelly Lang did not precisely play friends on 'The Bold and the Beautiful'.Susan's "Stephanie Forrester" and Katherine's "Brooke Logan" are known for their rivalries, as the latter once was interested in "Stephanie's" husband, fashion designer "Eric Forrester" (John McCook).

Over the course of the story, the relationship between "Stephanie" and "Brooke" takes a different path, as "Brooke" finds out that "Stephanie" has stage 4 lung cancer, becoming her motivant and confidant.

In real life, things are completely different. Katherine Kelly Lang once told 'Showbiz CheatSheet' that Susan Flannery was some sort of guru for her.

She said: "I learned so much working with Susan. She taught me a lot. She's tough and doesn't back down. The show and her character meant so much to her. We had the best time working together."

Susan Flannery sadly left the series in 2012, as her character died in a heartfelt scene opposite Katherine's.

However, this didn't prevent the actresses from spending time together off-screen. Proof of it was a 2018 Instagram post on Lang's account, where she and Flannery appear together in a picture which read: "I don't get to see Susan as often as I like to but when I do it is heaven. I miss her so much on and off 'B&B'. She is such an amazing strong person and I love her like crazy!" 

It seems Katherine Kelly Lang does not hesitate on praising Susan Flannery's talent every time an opportunity comes up!

In a 2021 interview with 'Soap Opera Digest', along with fellow 'Bold and the Beautiful' star John McCook, Lang reflected on their series co-stars. She said about Susan: "She was a hoot to work with! And I miss her all the time. I learned a lot from her. She was kind of my mentor and she would always give me advice; what I should do, how I should act or how I should speak up."

Lang and Flannery's performance in 'The Bold and The Beautiful' have earned them multiple accolades!

While Susan won three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, in 2000, 2002, and 2003, respectively, Kelly Lang has taken home three Soap Opera Update MVP Awards for Best Actress, in 1990, 1991 and 1995.

In the past years, the actresses have been spotted together at red-carpet events. In this picture, they were all smiles at the 25th Silver Anniversary Party For CBS' 'The Bold And The Beautiful' in 2012.

Susan Flannery appeared in the show for a total of 3871 episodes, between 1987 and 2012, and then once again in 2018.Her most recent screen appearance took place in the 2004 sitcom 'Hope & Faith' as "Laura".

As for Katherine, she has starred in the series since 1987. As of March 2024, she has starred in 6329 episodes.

Over the past years, she has also competed in a couple of reality shows, such as 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' and 'Ballando con le stelle'.
