After a very public rape sentencing, Danny Masterson has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars for two counts of rape. His wife Bijou Phillips wants to stay by her husband and file an appeal. Let's take a look at their relationship here. After meeting at a celebrity poker game, the two started dating.
"Every guy at the table was flirting with me but Danny," Phillips recalled to 'Paper' magazine in 2009. "He wasn’t laughing at my jokes. I was like, ‘Who is this Danny Masterson and what does he think he’s doing?'" Masterson confessed at the time that he only knew his now-wife by reputation only, calling her a "little crazy girl."

Danny remembered the whole thing vividly. "After Vegas, and talking to her a few times, I was shocked by how unbelievably intelligent she was. She knew every book I had ever read. I was like, this girl is amazing." After six years of dating, Phillips revealed saw an engagement and wedding in their future. "It's not a yes; it's not a no. It just sort of is, you know?" she shared before teasing her best relationship tips. "I don’t know. We just do. I wish I [had more advice]. This is my hidden tip — not talking."
In October of 2011, Masterson married the model in an intimate ceremony at an Irish castle. The day was open to just close friends and family of the couple and it started what became a very happy marriage for them. According to 'Us Weekly', Bijou reportedly wore a custom Zac Posen gown on her wedding day. Less than three years later, she gave birth to the couple’s first child, daughter Fiona, on Feb. 14, 2014.
The couple announced the news on Instagram at the time, with Danny sharing a photo of his baby girl sleeping on his stomach. "Hello friends. Beyond thrilled to announce the birth of our daughter Fianna Francis Masterson!"
Their love was tested again on April 2017, when Bijou, who had been privately battling kidney disease for several years, underwent a transplant in April. "My lady has been slowing dying for the past 7 years of an incurable kidney disease. She was given the gift of an encore by a tall angel," he wrote via Instagram after the surgery.
"Our daughter will have a mother. We do not take lightly how incredibly fortunate we are. 100% successful transplant. Now the real work begins for her to silence any chance of rejection. Our deepest gratitude to a perfect transplant team. And a life owed to a tall drink of water. Sláinte!," he posted proudly!

Then the legal troubles began for Masterson in 2022. A source told 'Us' that Bijou was "his rock" through it all, keeping him sane in the process. "Even with [Bijou’s] support, a legal team he trusts implicitly and all that money in the bank, there’s no denying he’s walking around with this horrendous cloud hanging over him," the insider said at the time.
"Once in a while, he heads out — dressed down and as incognito as possible — to fetch Starbucks or head to a meeting with his business team or lawyers. But 99 percent of the time, it’s Bijou running errands, doing the shopping and taking care of their daughter."
Now that Masterson is behind bars it is unclear how their relationship will be going forward. But she has made it clear that she does not intend to divorce her husband, and for now, will stand by his side through thick and thin.
Masterson is expected to appeal the verdict in the coming months.
