Jorge Garcia (46) left the crime series Hawaii Five-0 in the tenth season. The actor is now devoting himself to new projects and has to leave his role of "Jerry Ortega" behind for the time being. But fans can get excited for 2020, as he will actually star in two new movies according to his IMDb profile.
And for all Hawaii Five-0 fans, there's still some good news since "Jerry" is not totally out of the show - he will apparently appear as a guest star from time to time.
Jorge Garcia will return to Hawaii Five-0 as a guest star
"I'm grateful for my time on Hawaii Five-0," Garcia said. "I loved getting to return to the islands, and creating a character that connected with so many people. Playing Jerry was a blast, and I look forward to popping in again to play with my TV ohana." read Jorge Garcia's statement to TVLine after the announcement of his Hawaii Five-0 exit.
Jorge plans to appear in a couple of episodes over time - even though he's no longer part of the main cast. "Jerry Ortega" was a member of the Hawaii Five-0 team since season four, starting out with his co-star "Chin Ho Kelly", played by Daniel Dae Kim. "Jerry" can now fulfill his dream and finally write his book.
After Hawaii Five-0: Jorge Garcia's new projects
Jorge Garcia's two new projects are the following: The first film is the drama When We Were Pirates. It is about a group of friends who played pirates together during their childhood and how their "blood-sealed friendship" helps them navigate life as an adult.
Jorge Garcia also stars in the thriller Running Out of Time. The focus is on a doctor who develops affection for a strange man who can see into the future.
The former star of LOST is trying his hand at new genres with both films - that was most definitely one of the reasons for his exit, he wants and needs to try out new things!
While the fans had to say goodbye to "Jerry", they can look forward to the return of another character: Masi Oka (44) ("Dr. Max Bergman") returns to Hawaii Five-0 in season ten for a guest appearance.
