Hamilton fans got an unexpected treat this week when John Krasinski shared a video of Lin-Manuel Miranda and the original cast of the hit Broadway show reuniting over video conference! The reunion happened as part of Krasinski's webshow Some Good News, which aims to highlight positive things that are happening in the world in light of current circumstances.
Krasinski interviews disheartened young Hamilton fan on show
In the second episode of Some Good News, Krasinski had a very special surprise in store for one young Hamilton fan. 9-year-old Aubrey, who appeared on the show via the video conferencing app Zoom, was heartbroken she couldn't travel to see her favourite musical.
Krasinski talked to Aubrey about how her mom had tweeted that they were supposed to see Hamilton in Florida for her Aubrey's birthday, but instead ended up staying safe at home watching Mary Poppins Returns. Fortunately for Aubrey, Krasinski was about to make up for that disappointment in a big way!

Krasinski brings Hamilton star into video call with young fan
Hamilton fan Aubrey was first surprised when Krasinski's wife Emily Blunt, who happened to star in Mary Poppins Returns, appeared on camera with him. Krasinski told Aubrey that "when it's all over"— referring to the social distancing measures in place because of coronavirus— he would send her and her mom to see Hamilton in New York.
That wasn't the only surprise Krasinski had in store though, as their call was then "zoom-bombed" by none other than the creator and star of Hamilton himself, Lin-Manuel Miranda! Miranda greeted a speechless Aubrey, who had no idea that the rest of the Hamilton cast members were waiting in the wings.

As more and more people began popping up on the video call, the music to the show's opening number, "Alexander Hamilton" began playing... which happened to be Aubrey's favourite Hamilton song! Miranda started to sing the opening words of "Alexander Hamilton", and Aubrey was once again shocked... but little did she know what was about to happen next!
Hamilton original cast performs opening number over Zoom
Reunited over Zoom for the first time in years, the original company of Hamilton popped up one by one as they virtually performed "Alexander Hamilton" for Aubrey. Leslie Odom Jr., Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Okieriete Onaodowan, Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, and Javier Muñoz all joined Miranda in the song.
Aubrey was blown away as she watched the Hamilton cast put on the special performance for her, and Hamilton fans around the world were overjoyed to see the surprise cast reunion! Miranda shared the video on Twitter on Sunday night. “Thanks for tonight’s good news, @johnkrasinski," he said. Diggs tweeted out the video as well, writing "Thanks for putting the band back together @johnkrasinski".
