Singer Halsey took to Twitter to show her support for those who are suffering from mental illness, seemingly pointed at rapper-turned-politician, Kanye West.
The singer spoke about her own battles with bipolar disorder, the same mental illness that West has. West has recently sparked concerns about his mental health during his presidential rally over the weekend.
Kanye West's mental health sparks concern
Kanye West gave an impassioned speech over the weekend in which he spoke about his views on abortion. During his speech, the rapper started crying and getting highly emotional, even going so far as to divulge personal information about almost aborting his now 7-year-old daughter, North.
West also came under fire for his comments regarding national hero, Harriet Tubman, claiming that she "never really freed any slaves", and just had them "work for other white people."

In a slew of now-deleted Tweets, West went on to share personal information about his wife, Kim Kardashian, as well as talking about other celebrities including Shia LaBeouf and Anna Wintour.
West also shared that he thinks that his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, tried to "lock him away" for his mental health, sparking more controversy around his mental well-being.
Halsey opens about bipolar symptoms, shares support for West
Halsey took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the current rapper's mental state and shared her own personal struggles with the illness.
"Personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode isn’t a joke. If you can’t offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence," she wrote.

"Taking this opportunity to make offensive remarks and vilify people with mental illnesses is really not the way to go. This is the exact triggering s--t that causes people to keep quiet about it," she added.
She added in another post, "You can hate someone’s actions or opinions without contributing to stigma that damages an entire community of sometimes vulnerable people all for a couple of laughs."
She finalized her string of Tweets revealing she herself suffers from Bipolar disorder.
"Sincerely, Human Being with a Decade Long Bipolar Diagnosis," she wrote.
West was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, and shared the news in 2018 with the release of his album Ye.
