Hailey Bieber Talks Mental Health, Admits Shame And Guilt Of Past Actions Torment Her

Hailey Bieber may be a wife to one of the world's most popular artists, but that doesn't mean her life is all rosé and diamonds. The supermodel and Beverly Hills native is opening up about her mental health, and how her past actions replay over and over in her mind.

Hailey Bieber talks letting go of shame

Supermodel and daughter to Stephen Baldwin, Hailey Bieber is opening up about her mental health, and how shame and guilt can eat her alive. Appearing on Natalie Manuel Lee's YouTube channel Hillsong, Mrs. Bieber is coming clean about managing her thoughts.

In the chat, Bieber admits that she's been kept up at night by her wandering mind, and replays shame and guilt over and over, saying that it "legitimately tormented" her for "months and months."

“I know for myself that I really struggled with letting go of my shame,” the model explained. “I couldn’t really understand what it really meant to be forgiven."

“I would lay down in bed at night, and be like, ‘Omg, why did I do that when I was 17 years old?’ And it’s like, I’m 23 and a married woman, and my life is so far passed my teenage mistakes," she continued.

Bieber explains that she finally got to a place of acceptance, and shares how her faith had a big role to play.

“I think I’ve finally gotten to a point where I had to dive deeper. I had to understand, what does the Bible say about feeling guilty and having shame?" she says. "I do feel like there was a point in my life where I was really living performance-based."

She then goes on to talk about coming to terms with her mistakes, and that her love for Jesus helps her get through the challenges.

"For me, it was just this process of understanding, I don’t have to sit around and feel, ‘Omg this one time when I was 20, I made a mistake… I wish I hadn’t done that. Jesus would be more proud of me if I hadn’t,'” she shares.

Bieber also shares that she recognizes her privilege in life, especially noting how she grew up, but also shares she wasn't always open and honest about how she was feeling.

"On Instagram it would look like all was gravy, and then I'd be like, in my bed broken and crying at night," she says.
