On Tuesday, Grimes broke the silence on the name of her son X Æ A-12 by giving a detailed explanation of the name on Twitter. The post outlined each component of the name, saying:
"X, the unknown variable," "Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)," and "A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent + (A=Archangel, my favorite song) (metal rat)."
The next day, however, her partner, Elon Musk, pointed out a typo in that original explanation.

"SR-71, but yes," Musk wrote in response to his partner's tweet, which had read "SR-17."
Social media users were quick to suggest that Musk had perpetrated a "well, actually..." — an act similar to mansplaining — on Grimes, who had only just delivered the couple's son.
The singer, whose real name is Claire Boucher, evidently felt the same way. She replied with a tweet of her own, which read: "I am recovering from surgery and barely alive so may my typos b forgiven but, damnit. That was meant to be profound."
It appears that the new parents made up, though. Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, retreated with a grateful message after he was called out.

It's also possible that the exchange was all in good fun to begin with, seeing as Grimes ended the tweets on a loving note. Nonetheless, the couple's Twitter reveal will forever be footnoted by the correction.
