• Paul Hogan became world famous as "Crocodile Dundee"
  • Today the Hollywood star of the eighties is sick

Paul Hogan (83) was diagnosed with retroperitoneal fibrosis. This is a rare chronic disease of the posterior abdominal cavity. Symptoms of this disease include muscle wasting and dramatic weight loss. The Crocodile Dundee actor also has to struggle with this.

In an interview with presenter Tracy Grimshaw, who is the face of the Australian news show A Current Affair, in November 2022, Paul Hogan spoke candidly about his illness and how he is currently doing with it.

Paul Hogan suffers from a rare disease

Today Paul Hogan is doing better again, although the state of health of the over 80-year-old was poor recently. "(I've) been better. I had a problem on that aorta in the kidney and the treatment fixed it, but it shrunk me," he told Tracy Grimshaw.

The consequences of retroperitoneal fibrosis were severe, the star explained in more detail: "I just ... I‘ve lost all my body fat and the muscles all shrank and my strength has come back because it left me feeble. I had to get Chance to open jars for me. I’ve just got zero body fat."

His son Chance is from his marriage with Linda Kozlowski, because the two Crocodile Dundee actors were also a couple in real life. In 2014 they divorced, and now the two Hogan men live in a villa in Venice Beach, as the Daily Mail reports.

However, the former Crocodile Dundee film hero cannot gain weight. By the time he was 79, Paul Hogan was fit, as he recalled in A Current Affair. That all changed on his 80th birthday.

"And then I turned 80 and it's lovely that saying that "turning 80 is not for sissies" because things start to fall apart," said the native Australian, who now wears a pacemaker for his health.

Because of illness: Paul Hogan wants to go back to Australia

Paul Hogan was born on October 8, 1939, in Sydney, Australia. He would like to return to his home. The actor is sure that it would be good for him and his health. On the other hand, he doesn't want to leave his son Chance Hogan in Venice Beach, because his hometown is in Los Angeles.

"I'm not in the place I'm meant to be, but I'm not allowed to complain about anything. I've had such a gifted life. I've had so many wonderful things happen to me without deserving them so I shouldn't complain but, yeah, ideally I'd rather be back in Sydney because I miss the rest of my family there," says Paul Hogan.
