Grace Patricia Kelly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the winter of 1929. The Kellys were an influential family in the city, Grace's father was up for Mayor of Philadelphia in 1935 but lost the election by the narrowest of margins. With two brothers who also entered showbiz, Grace started acting at the age of 20, in 1950.
Grace started out in a variety of live drama productions in what was the 'Golden Age of Television', and then moved on to commercially successful feature films - most of the time, she starred opposite male romantic leads, who were 25 to 30 years older than her. She starred alongside legends like Clark Gable, Bing Crosby, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant and Ava Gardner. Her most famous movies include The Country Girl, High Noon, Dial M For Murder and To Catch A Thief.
When she was 26, Grace married Rainier III, Prince of Monaco and she became Princess of Monaco. She and her husband had three children together: Princess Caroline, Prince Albert and Princess Stéphanie. Grace died on September 14, 1982 after she sustained fatal injuries in a horrific traffic accident the day before. She was 52 years old.
