George Clooney's Life and Career Through The Years

George Clooney was born on May 6th, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky living a very average life in a very tight-knit Roman Catholic family. Fun fact: Throughout his first year of high school, he suffered a minor condition called Bell's palsy, a type of disorder that paralyzed half of his face for almost a year. During this time, the most important thing that George learned was the ability to make fun of himself which translated quite well into his later career! 

After George dropped out of college, he began working dead end jobs to make ends meet. Construction, cutting tobacco and door-to-door insurance were some of the jobs he did to pay the bills. Eventually, he caught the acting bug and moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career. Roles slowly started rolling in and before he knew it, Clooney was offered a contract to star in the medical drama ER. He played the role from 1994 until 1999 and won several awards for his performance including 2 Primetime Emmy Awards. 

In the meantime, during his role in ER, Clooney was able to get a few movie roles as well! He starred in a numerous films including the blockbuster flop Batman & Robin as well as well-received Tarantino crime drama From Dusk Till Dawn. 

When the early 2000's rolled around, Clooney was already an established actor in the business! He was offered a role in the heist comedy Ocean's Eleven where he played "Danny Ocean" in 2001 which ended up being one of his most successful films in Clooney's career! George also starred in both sequels: Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen. 

In 2005, George Clooney starred in the political drama Syriana loosely based around agent Robert Baer experiences during his service in the middle east. What many people don't know is that Clooney actually suffered somewhat severe injuries during the films productions which included brain injuries due to complications with a punctured dura. Nevertheless, he was promptly awarded an Oscar for his role in the film. 

George Clooney also appeared in the noir-style classic The Good German which, upon release, received relatively poor ratings. LIke many actors in the industry, Clooney also began directing his own movies with his first movie being Good Night, and Good Luck (2005). It wasn't until 2009 that Clooney would get another great role! His leading role in Up In The Air got him nominated for a BAFTA and a Golden Globe award.

Clooney won critical appraise for his role in The Descendents where he played a husband who's wife is left in a coma after an accident. What followed were a series of awards including a Broadcast Film Critics Association Award and a Golden Globe award both for best actor! One of his more recent roles was back in 2015 where he starred in the sci-fi mystery adventure film Tomorrowland. 

Another critically acclaimed, highly recognized role Clooney has had over the years has to be his role in The Descendants. In the film, he plays a husband who's wife  is left in a coma after a fatal accident. His Golden Globe for Best Actor was well deserved, in our opinion. If you're looking for a movie that really tears at your heart- strings, we highly recommend this 2011 classic! 

Clooney began doing more and more commercial work throughout the mid 2010's. Companies like Fiat, Nespresso, Omega and many many more were dying to book him as their leading star in their ad campaigns. On top of all of that, Clooney was ranked No. 1 sexiest man alive by TV-Guide! Let's be honest, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise for this silver fox... 

You can imagine how much influence this man has on the masses! Over the past few years, Clooney has began using this influence to help fund and support political and social causes! Some of the causes he has been supporting include LGBTQ rights and Gun Control.
