In order to credibly embody the role of Edward R. Murrow, George Clooney not only dyed his hair, but also started smoking again. Murrow, who was known as a notorious chain smoker, died of lung cancer at the age of 57. In the interview with 'The New York Times', Clooney revealed that he was well aware of the health risks of smoking, especially as several relatives in his family had died of lung cancer. Nevertheless, he sees it as necessary in order to portray the role authentically.
