• Britney Spears used to date Justin Timberlake
  • She is alleging an abortion she went through
  • THESE are the details

Sharing a snippet from the book with 'People' magazine, the pop icon said she became pregnant in the early 2000s while in a relationship with Justin Timberlake. At the time, their relationship was on all the tabloids.  Although she was happy about the pregnancy, Timberlake was not ready to be a father. In the excerpt, the 41-year-old described the abortion as "one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life." 'Newsweek' has reached out to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake for comment via email.

The story has gone viral, but Timberlake remains silent about it. It's unlikely the story will go away as the book's release will surely bring with it more dramatic revelations.

Britney and Justin had a bombshell

"Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy," the excerpt reads. "He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young." Representatives for Timberlake did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Spears and Timberlake dated for a few years starting when she was 17 and he was 18, generating a tabloid frenzy as they made their ascents as two of the defining pop stars of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The memoir, slated for release next week, is Spears’ first in-depth account of her life and career and is being published in the aftermath of her release from a legal conservatorship that governed her life for more than 13 years.

Since Spears was released from her conservatorship in November 2021, fans have been re-evaluating the star's treatment at the hands of the media over the years, as well as those who used her fame for their own gain. As always, the internet continues to be divided on an issue that concerns celebrities and the comments on the publication were brutal.

"It's not f*** Justin Timberlake for not feeling ready to be a father. It's f*** Justin Timberlake for all of the slut shaming and mud slinging he did after," commented @xoxofeedsters. "Justin Timberlake spent two decades trashing Britney every chance that he got. She's kept her head down and the first time she actually tells her truth he wants her to 'grow up' this is why people hate men," said tina d.

It's not all bad for Justin

However, some fans defended Timberlake, with @price0fwoke writing: "People about to ignore that this was a mutual decision."

"Two consenting adults made a joint decision what was best for them at that period in their lives, I see no issue," said Harsh, while Chris Wieduwilt commented: "Those choices are deeply personal matters that should not be for public debate or judgment."

Since abortion revelations broke on October 17, many online began lambasting Timberlake, accusing him of profiting off their relationship and its breakdown, with X user Ross commenting: "Britney deserved better."

"So Justin Timberlake got Britney Spears pregnant and he wanted her to get an abortion, yet at the same time he was bragging about how he took her virginity? He's s*** for that!!" another said.

It looks like the court of public opinion will have a lot to say once the book actually comes out! The collection of excerpts released so far recall the days leading up to her getting a record deal at 15, her inner monologue as she held a live snake in the famous moment at the 2001 Video Music Awards, among many others topics like her state of mind in 2008...

Also interesting:

"I would do little bits of creative stuff here and there, but my heart wasn’t in it anymore," the excerpt read. "As far as my passion for singing and dancing, it was almost a joke at that point." But the revelations of an abortion are bound to be the book's biggest talking point.

Justin will most likely have prepared a statement by its release, since this is the kind of thing that can make or break an artist's future, specially these days. The closest we've had so far, is what a source close to Justin told 'ET' in response to the abortion revelation: "Justin has been focusing on his own family and trying not to concern himself with Britney's memoir."

"In recent years, Justin has tried to be supportive of Britney from a distance. They dated so long ago, but he still has respect for her. Justin and Jessica just want everyone to grow and evolve instead of continuing to bring up the past," they said.

Let's wait and see if JT will face the criticism head on or not.
